Natural marble is a metamorphic rock predominantly formed from calcium carbonate. Because calcite is inherently alkaline, it chemically reacts almost instantaneously when exposed to mild acids—such as lemon juice, wine, vinegar, tomato sauce, or acidic carbonated beverages. This acid dissolves the top surface crystals, creating dull, whitish rings known as "etch marks" that cannot be washed away with soap.
SOFASHIELD PRO impregnating sealers utilize ultra-small molecular chains that wick deep into the crystalline capillary network of the stone. Rather than suffocating the surface beneath a thick plastic glaze that turns yellow in sunlight, our sealer lines the internal pores, repelling liquid penetration while allowing the slab to "breathe" naturally.
